I need a DBGRID that will allow Master/Detail desplay, a la TreeView. Since
this is a requirement for just one form in a project, I would like to find
something "stand alone", so that I don't need to install (yet) another suite
of components.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Robert,

| I need a DBGRID that will allow Master/Detail desplay,

The grid you are using should work. Just use two instances of it and
set the MasterSource in the Database-DataSource-DataSet of the second
DBGrid data access components to establish the Master-Detail
relationship.

I didn't explain what I needed correctly. I want the + sign (or equivalent),
when you click you display the details under the master, when you close you
only see the masters. I think DevExpress has that feature.

Yes, also TMS, InfoPower and others.

It is a matter of price and taste.

I use InfoPower's 1stClass fsDBTreeView. For heavy database master/detail
work, it is the best I have ever experienced in a TreeView.

Ah ha. I didn't understand that.

Look for DBTree components. DevExpress has an entire component group
called: ExpressDBTree components. I have DevEx but have not had
occasion to use the DBTree components.

For what he describes, master detail relationship, and taken in to
account that the detail records will have different columns then I do
not think that any treeview can handle it.

DevExpress quantum grid and infopower components can do this for sure.
I do not knwo of others.

Dear Visitors,

Thank you rap,

Unfortunatelly, our dbgrid doesn't support Master/Detail tree display.
Screenshot from this link:

is from non-db NextGrid with tree column.
